We are proud to announce that both Janet Lee and Kyu Ro have been awarded summer research funding from the University of Colorado Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program!
Our new paper is out! We show that subsets of ventral tegmental area glutamate-releasing neurons have firing patterns consistent with aversion or salience. We also find that VTA glutamate-releasing neurons have further diversity with respect to signaling reward expectation, reward approach behavior, and learned cues.

Barker et al finds that separate glutamatergic and GABAergic lateral preoptic neurons target single lateral habenula neurons for the convergent transmission of glutamate and GABA that influences motivated behavior. Congrats David and the Morales group!
